Who are your people? Where do they gather?
When I spoke to John about his passion for his work (owning pubs) it was as much about the community as it was the business.
There is a Greek heritage for him that speaks to community, giving, caring, nurturing, hospitality and welcoming that drives him. This is what he wants for the people who come into his pubs.
He reflected on the pub being the place people have traditionally come back to. The various “clubs/groups” would congregate here to celebrate and create community. It’s the pub like the church he says.
In our times of digital loneliness the vision of the community together is one to keep in mind and so good to see that as a driving theme behind the ‘local pub’.
